15 June 2011 Apologies

To all of our readers, I have to apologize.  I have been writing posts on the island but do not have time to post them this week.  Darcy Dog broke his hip on the island and we are busy today dealing with the fallout from that.  Due mostly to the fact I was unreachable on the island, and Amy was making the decisions at the vet, Darcy will be fine & up to full speed by the end of the summer.

Thanks for your patience with us and we hope to see you all in the coming weeks!  The posts resume next Wednesday.......

Best,
Nate & Amy

  2. Hi my name is Eric,

Going thru the trials and tribulations I see. I am the web master of the Seguin website and just wanted to let you two know my e-mail so we can talk about promoting the site. I would like to talk about adding some links to the blog, if you do not mind. I also have a ton of questions. Hope all is OK with your poor puppy dog :(
Hope to hear from you soon.

    Peace

  3. Hi, Amy, Nate & Darcy, Those of us in the middle of the continent would like to see photos of for-real Down East fog (seriously).

Beyond that, you seem to be in a unique position to photograph the mouth of the mighty Kennebeck River, which is -- of course -- one of the VERRRY few remaining rivers on the North American continent where its confluence with the Atlantic Ocean remains un-altered by human development.

The more photos you take, the better, because almost no one has ever been (or ever will be) in your position to do so.

What -- exactly -- does your audience -- like me -- want you to show us in photos? The weather. The sea. The wildlife. You. Along with those odd observations you have occasionally, which cause you to pause and wonder what it means.

But also, why not get in touch with a Maine-coastal-ecologist and ask them for suggestions on what photographic data you should collect?

If such a specialist can't be reached during your brief time on-shore, then see what the Popham, Phippsburg and Bath museums would want to have photos of.

Because it seems to an outsider that you have an opportunity to create a photographic database that others might use, later, to request grant money in support of *research* residencies, such as yours.
